  Serafimi pictati de Daniela Jurescu.

Saint Dionysius the Areopagite wrote about Seraphim: "the name Seraphim literally means "the burning ones", more precise "those who purify". The restless and unending activity around the throne of God, the heat, the all consuming flame, the perpetual burning animation, constant and tireless, reaching to elevate the energy of those below them, kindling and igniting them to their own vibration, the purifying force as intense as lightning, bright and enlightening nature, unconcealed and unquenchable, radiating in every darkness, dispelling every evil, that is the meaning of the name "Seraphim"."

The great Prophet Isaiah says that the Seraphim are present around Him, each carrying six wings (Isaiah 6, 2). They are the image of fire, as David the Prophet was saying: "Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire" (Psalm 104, 4). The Seraphim kindle the fire of divine love in man, as their name indicates...Seraphim ceaseless chant "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth and sky is full of His glory!", again from the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 6, 3).

Seraphim are blazing with the love for God and they also have double the force of holy fright, double the power of divine sight and double the strength of praising and doxology, more than any other angelic spheres lying beyond them.
