Icons are windows into heaven  says Saint John of Damascus. It's been said that the gospels depict through words, what the icon announces through images. The orthodox icons witness the entire history of christian faith, along with the palpable proof of divinity, of which we can all become worthy heirs.

As a silent presence in christian prayers and faithfull guide on the path to Salvation, throughout christian history, the icons lost today most of their spiritual wealth. The icon's purpose and meaning, greatly outweighs the physical means of expression, and becomes a vehicle of sacred presence and place of veneration. In a world overwhelmed by images, holding different type of values, or none at all, the orthodox icon remains unique, subtly transcending, any kind of human-made image.

The craft and spiritual training, toward making an authentic icon, through the talent and passion of the artist, and most important ingredient: faith, has been rigorously preserved, in the traditional technique of orthodox icons, extensively described, in erminies(icon manuals). The icons painted by Daniela Jurescu, respect this tradition, and some examples can be found in the Iconia virtual studio.
